Jinx, sorry about your job. I'm sure something will come along for you soon as you seem to be pretty resourceful.

The assembly lube I always use is Lubriplate 105 Engine Assembly Lube. Comes in a white tube with blue cap and NAPA sells it. Ive used this stuff for years. I coat my engine bearings with it (and also some engine oil) and then use liberal amounts on my cam shaft lobes, push rod ends, rocker fulcrums, and valve stem tips. I soak the lifters in engine oil for several hours before installing those. Then, I lightly pour some oil over all the rockers before I put the covers on.

Going to try starting my engine today. Wish me luck!

Good luck, hope it fires right up. And don't forget the video! :-)

How much does that stuff cost? The comp stuff through summit is 5 bucks a bottle. I found a cheaper cam degree setup but its for heads on. I wish I knew somebody that had the setup and would let me borrow it. I only really plan on using it one other time when I build the 514 for my Mustang. Did you end up needing new push rods? I emailed the people I'm getting my heads from and they said I can use stock rods. I just wanna make sure they are right. I still don't know what RR's I need either.

On a better note I got me a fastman today

No point in over-paying, the assembly lube "dissolves" into the motor oil pretty quickly.

SUCCESS!

Engine fired on the first crank yesterday afternoon. Of course there was a lot of oil burning off the cast-iron exhaust manifolds and she ran a little rough until the lifters pumped up, but now idles smoothly. Acceleration is noticeably better with cam, 52mm Fastman, and B&G reflash. Hope to complete my upgrades this week with custom exhaust and shortie headers. Will take some pics when it stops raining.

Will a cell phone video do? Or do I need to dig out the handycam?
