I wouldn't chrome them. Have them ceramic coated and never look back. They will always look good plus they will reduce engine compartment heat. I was once a member of a racing team that ran the promodified high horsepower swamp buggys in Naples Florida a number of years back. The buggy that I worked on had a pair of ceramic coated headers and they would get covered with mud from the Mile-O-Mud and it would just easily rinse off without scrubbing. And it may sit on there a couple of days after the races until it could be cleaned. Again never a problem cleaning them.
