Flush's are a bad idea. I'd get them to drop the pain and just drain the fluid and change the filter. Flush's are known to cause all sorts of problems.

I thought flushes were bad assuming the owner didn't take care of their transmission originally. But if somebody were to take care of their transmission, and change the fluid every 30,000 miles, wouldn't it be ok? Otherwise there is going to be old oil in there all the time?

Bad idea or not, I wouldn't do a flush every 30k. I'd just get a filter/fluid in the pan changed every 30k, like Monte suggested. They charge extra for a flush usually, and if its not needed, its not needed, therefore, no need to spend the extra $$$.

Thanks guys for the information on servicing intervals.

So guys, get a kick out of this. Today (when it finally stopped snowing), I took a look under the truck to see the new transmission. Everything was looking good, and then something suddenly bothered my eye. I had realized they removed my deep dish pan, and replaced it with a stock pan. I called N.E up and I asked him why the deep dish pan wasn't installed on the new transmission. He told me it was because nothing was ever stipulated about keeping the pan, and that we requested a stock unit. To me, I completely understand that we asked for a stock unit, and it's finally shifting the way it should have, but that deep dish pan had nothing to do with the "performance" unit. A stock pan could have been installed on the performance unit as well. I took my own initiative to purchase that pan, which cost around $250. So in essence, I didn't get any money back. He found a way to steal $250 back. Well, I suppose it isn't my problem. If their unit burns up within 2 years, it's their baby. After the warranty is up, I'll purchase a deep dish pan. I figured you all would enjoy that cute story.

With flushes often times they just backflush the filter and don't actually change it too so that's another thing that makes it bad. You need to change the filter too jnot just flush the fluid out. Plus when they backflush it often times it takes junk that was in the filter and flushes it back into the transmission which inturn causes problems.

If you have the receipt for the original purchase showing the deep pan as a separate line item, I would demand that they either refund that money for the deep pan, or give you back that pan. (not install, just hand it back to you) If they give you a hard time about it, tell them that you can happily give your lawyer another call if needed and they can explain in court why they stole it from you. If they want to gripe that they gave you a new stock pan with your new tranny, then remind them about the stock pan they kept from the original tranny. The deep pan was paid for as a separate item, and didn't come with the other tranny as a standard item in its original cost, which is why they charged you additional money for it. This technically makes it a completely separate item from the tranny. You paid for this item in addition to, not part of, the crappy tranny they sold you. I personally wouldn't let them just keep it. If you don't want to keep it, you could sell it for extra cash. The wording in the settlement probably only specifies the "transmission", not the extra money you paid for the extra items purchased along with the tranny.

It's up to you if you allow them to take this from you. It is understandable if you're just simply over it and don't want to deal with it any more, but, keep in mind they are in the same frame of mind as you. They also won't want any additional expense of having to go back to court over this "used" pan they are stealing from you. It would be much cheaper for them to just give it back to you, and they know this. It's worth a shot, in my opinion. You should do what you are most comfortable with. Best wishes to you, and 2 thumbs way up for sticking to your guns as you have! Talk about some real losers! I hate shops like that, and the unfortunate thing is it's so much harder to find a decent shop than one of these ripoff places.

Thanks Ron for the kind words. I'm most likely just going to let this one go. I gave him a call, and he was hellbeant on pretending that the pan was part of the heavy duty unit. At this point the guy is clearly a creep. I know I could get the pan out of him, but in the grand scheme of things, I'm lucky I got out of this alive, and hopefully this transmission will run as good as it is now for awhile. I'm happy I have the oppurtunity to start with a new transmission. I know I can take care of it, and service it accordingly. The tranny obviously isn't my dream transmission, but hey, I guess it's probably for the best, because I'm a bad speed demond. Now I can just take it nice and slow with this one, and cherish the truck, and take pride in making it look mean and running great. Mark knows what he did, he knows I paid for that pan seperately, and he knows that had nothing to do with their pos unit. He stole my pan. If he can sleep at night with business decisions like that, then I suppose I feel bad for the guy.

**BTW Ron, did you have your APS installed? If so, how does it run, and is it what you expected? Last I heard, you were a little upset with the customer satisfaction you were receiving. I'd love to hear how things are now!
