Transmission Suggestions
Well it won't be the dealership installing the transmission. It's New England Transmission, the shop that orginally installed the "heavy-duty" tranny. They are taking the heavy-duty one out and installing a stock transmission in. I just wasn't sure if I should ask them about that, or just keep it simple and straight forward considering all the mess I've been through.
This is why I'm glad I asked for your guys' opinion. I just wasn't sure if I should keep it extremely narrow and simple and have them take their transmission out, put a stock one, and get out of there. Thanks for the tips and pointers guys.
The quote above is exactly what you should do.
Question for MonteC
Regarding this valve body modification for cooler flow in park.
How necessacary do you think this is?
Unless the vehicle does excessive idling, what benefit does this actually provide?
When was the last time you saw a trans overheat in park?

This is what I was inquiring about as well. I've heard that the overdrive units burn up when they sit in park too long. The only time I really ever let my truck sit in Park is when I first start the truck up in the morning, or when I am running into a convenient store. Sometimes I put it in neutral if the terrain is flat and safe enough, but most of the time I feel very uncomfortable leaving my truck in neutral while I run into a store.
Your lucky to be getting anything out of that New England Tranny shop. Take your tranny and run. Just don't leave behind that extra deep tranny pan and extra large fluid cooler with the old one if you don't have to. Think about it, you paid $4,000 for a heavy duty tranny with all the bells and whistles and now that it crapped out on you, your now settling for a stock unit at the same cost???? I'm not sure if you posted the cost of a stock unit before or not but if you did, and my memory serves me correctly, it's gotta be cheaper than the $4,000. Thus back to my point, do whatever you can but pay those people to keep that extra stuff like the tranny cooler and deep tranny pan.
Then after you find that the new stock unit serves you right, consider doing the other **** to it later. For example; shift kit, modification to valves or valve body to get fluid to flow while in park, better torque converter, etc.
But more then anything, get your truck the hell outa there!

I completely agree. I've asked my lawyer to figure out the cost differential from the heavy-duty unit to a stock unit, so I will be expecting to get the differance back and use it to pay for attorney fees. I do plan to keep the deep dish pan and the extra large cooler. I just want a functioning transmission, and as you said, I will mess around with goodies once the warranty is completed with them. I'll let you guys know when everything has been finalized and I drop the truck with them. Thanks again everybody for your input.
