Default Need Hyd Roller Lifter Recommendations

I'm now in the market for a new set of hydraulic roller lifters. What can you guys recommend? I've heard of the Rhoades Lifters. Are there any other high-quality lifters out there that I can run with a mild cam and stock valvetrain? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I thought that Rhoades lifters were mainly for trucks running too low a vaccuum. If proper vaccuum isn't an issue, they are probably overpriced and overkill for your application. Just go over to hughesengines.com and get the mopar performance lifters. I think they are 8.50 a piece.

That hughes 0814 cam should be fine on vaccuum with a 114 LSA, but you can call them and ask.

That's what I did originally, but I had two of them collapse on me after just turning the engine over by hand. I think I got a couple of bad eggs in that batch. To Hughes credit, they are going to give me a full refund, and seemed very concerned that this had happened to me. On Monday, I checked the local Dodge dealer price, and they want $30 a piece for factory lifters, which is a little rich for my blood. Hughes told me their lifters and Mopar Performance lifters come from the same source so now I'm a little gun shy about using the MP lifters.

For the old Chevy flat lifters, we used to "pump" them up in oil before installing them, but they say this is not required for the Chrysler rollers. I'm half tempted to just put the old lifters back in since their rollers seem to be in good shape with no noticeable play.

I will check out Summit and the other vendors today. Thanks to all for your replies.

I know that is true with a flat tappet cam, but is it really true with a roller cam? If so, why?

well I know that bearings get grooved to a specific crank or cam, I wonder if the rollers get grooved to a specific cam lobe and can cause excessive spacing issues.

Here is an article that says you can swap in a new roller lifter cam and use the old roller lifters:
