I thought I hated my truck because it breaks all the time and cost me a small fortune, but i love to look at 01DodgeRam360's posts. Makes me feel better.

I have my truck in the shop to get the axle seals replaced. The owner is someone I have known since I was 14 (a lot of years) and I trust them 200%.
He called and said the bolts that hold the cad broke right off the instant they tried to get them out. He said he needs it another night, but isn't going to charge me for the extra shop time. I am sure any other shop would love to have an excuse to charge me more.
I would have done the seals myself, but I don't have any tools needed. I don't even have a torque wrench or a 3/4 socket set... sad i know. But I never needed any of these tools because I never owned something I needed to work on all the time. I am asking for a good tool set for Xmas. I don't mind working on the truck as long as i have the tools to do the job, otherwise I'd be hacksawing or using visegrips on things.

01DodgeRam360 best of luck. What was wrong with your body mounts? were they squeaking? I have to admit, even as tool-less as I am, I could have done the terminals, but certainly not equiped to balance the tires. So, are they saying the starter is shot to the point you can't start it?

Thanks everyone for your responses.

The main reason the truck is in there is for the balance and rotation. I bought tires from them last summer, so I get free balance and rotations. I'm in the midst of trying to sell my tires, so I wanted to make sure I was keeping up on the scheduled tire maintenance. I also wanted them to check the bodymounts to confirm if my own assessment was accurate. For whatever reason, I am missing 4 lower body mounts. I am replacing those myself, just wanted confirmation.

Today when I was in there, I just asked if they could exchange the battery terminal connection while it was in there. They did not replace the wire, just the end piece where it connects to the battery. I went in there today to get my stuff out of the truck and tried starting it, it's completely dead.

Both managers were not there today, so I got stuck talking to the young idiot trying to hit me up for a starter. I later talked to one of the other guys and he said they'll most likely bite it tomorrow because we have given them so much business in the past. I was just very irked this morning when that moron tried hitting me up for a starter.

Generally speaking, this truck has done well for me. I've just ran into a lot of bad mechanics, which defiantly compounded the original mechanical issue. With that said, I still just can't get enough of this truck.

Check your starter relay and fuses. As funny as that sounds, its one of the big black ones under the pdc (black box next to battery) There is another one under there that looks exactly like it (I think for the ac). Swap her and see what happens. Check the fuses in the cab too. Unless they fubar'd the brown wire that goes down, then... there is no reason the starter shouldn't work. I mean if it were me i'd get my volt meter out and check it out, then bill them for the assessment (lol). Even if the terminal arched when putting it on, there is no reason it would do anything to the starter. Maybe solenoid, but I would check your fuses and relay first.

Yeah I haven't been on this site in a while. The last post I remember was 360 complaining about the shop that rebuilt his tranny and how it was running worse. Now this.
I mean I have problems but all the money I put into my truck in the last year was for upgrades and basic repair. My tranny is off and on, but man nothing like what this guy goes through. I bet you miss the neon.

I'm sorry but half the stuff is just stupid. A battery cable takes like 10 minutes to change. First off you never mess with electronics without the negative terminal off of the battery.

The starter has a 140amp fuse between it and the battery so that should have failed first. I don't even know how you could fry a starter. Unless some kind of way they hooked the battery up backwards or intentionally did it. I mean how do you fry a starter by replacing a terminal??????

Also starters are cheap and easy to install. That top bolt is a PITA.

Really you should just burn your truck, don't even sell it, because it is a lemon. I wouldn't give you a dollar for it, its cursed.

I'd give him a dollar for a rot free set of doors!!!!!
Although he is in Maine, and they salt the shiZZ out of the roads like they do in CT.

I found a starter on RockAuto.com for $130. Its not necessarily the parts that are expensive but the labor on getting them in.

I changed the starter on my 1997 Murray 48" 16HP, and that was easy.

Haha yea I wouldnt call my starter install cheap, or easy to install. If they were easy to install, I wouldn't have needed a friend to hold the starter while I get the connectors apart, put together, not to mention trying to get the bolts started lol... I broke that one connector so I definately wouldn't call that one easy. LOL It definately isn't on the same level as an oil change, ill put it that way.
