They are at Fault, right?

They are at Fault, right?
I just dropped my truck off this morning at the local VIP. I asked them to do a balance and rotation on the tires, diagnose the cab mounts, and to replace the positive battery terminal connection.
They called me two hours later and said after they replaced the terminal connection, that the starter was fried. They want $217 for it. I told them I didn't think it was my obligation to cover that, and that my starter has never had a problem until today in their shop.
Am I right in terms that I'm not obligated to cover that bill?

and you couldnt do that??
While many of us can and do enjoy working on our trucks, not everyone has the time/knowhow or desire to do the same. In his case, I'd definitely have replaced the battery terminal, and checked the cab mounts, but rotating/balancing the tires is a job I'd pay someone to do. I don't have the means to balance them, and rotating them is way too big of a pain in the *** and is easily worth the 20 bucks to me to have someone else do it.
In any event, it seems to me that your starter being fine when you go in, them replacing a battery terminal/cable, then it suddenly not working, smacks of them doing something to kill it. I'd keep going after them for it.

I don't get on the 2nd gen site that much anymore since I sold mine, but I have to say that I have never seen a truck with more problems than yours. With that being said, if your starter was fine when you dropped it off, then it should have been fine when you picked it up. You are a better person than I am putting up with all this stuff that you go through. I would have lost my mind a long time ago (or sold the truck).

With that being said...I'd shove the starter up there A** and tell them they are responsible. Not many companies like it when you mention the BBB or AES complaint board but they generally get the idea and fix it.
Goodluck to you and I mean it.

I hope you get things straigthened out. But my question is how come every time you take your truck somewhere you end up feeling that they screwed something up. If they really are messing things up I'd quit taking it to the shop and start doing more of the work myself..Either that or stop taking it to chain-type shops.
My 2 cents.
