Default Preserve your doors!

For any one that is interested, if your doors are not rotted yet or are just barely starting to do so. Take the interior panels off and pour some oil down into the bottom of the door into the seam where they rot from the inside out. It will make them last longer.

Just motor oil? Sounds like it would work.

Do the doors rust because the drain holes get plugged up with curd...and if so wouldn't spraying the liner stuff plug them too.

I used a rustoleum type of rust converter to stop any rust that was there, then I used caulking and put a generous bead between the panels from front to back, then used some spray undercoating liberally.

so far its stopped the spreading.

The undercoating works too, and after it dries you still use the motor oil every so often. And btw you can use the waste oil from your oil changes.

And they don't rot because the holes get clogged, they rot because it's a bad design and the water never gets to the drain hole .

They rust for the same reason chevy's cab corners rust... combination of poor design and crappy material there's really nothing that can stop it because they rust from the inside out. while bedliners and stuff like that will help prolong it it is inevitable they will rust. I got my 99 and I was a little upset about the amount of rust on the doors mainly the drivers side I can see the gasket at the bottom but you know haveing a dad that does the best body work in town and being a painter yourself kinda has its advantages so yea patch panels
