Probably needs at least a good tune-up (new distributor cap, rotor, wires, and plugs) and get an alignment check. Check that plenum gasket.

I do have a pretty heavy lead foot, and last tune up was 5,000 miles ago. And, the plenum is fine. i blame alot on the gas in my part of the country. Ethanol SUCKS!
