Did you just change over to 93 octane? If so, you might have diluted it with the 87 left in the tank. There is no headroom in the SCT tune for substandard gas. Even Sam's Club and Costco 93 octane would ping for me. Also, the engine needs to be running in tip top shape to handle that amount of timing advance.
Try a top tier gas provider and run an octane booster for the first tank.

i use bp 93 and shell 94. i have never had any pinging with the hypertech max energy or the superchip 3815. i tried that jet chip stage 2 for about 50 miles with no pinging either. thats why i asked, if you have had others. i plan on doing the sct but do not want pinging.
also what plugs are you using? you might want to try a colder one. i use the 3923's.
EDIT:and maybe a 180* degree thermostat. i know some get codes, and some donnt. i think the reason why i donnt is because of my e-fan setup. no clutch fan. which lets my truck get up to temp faster. and e-fan doesnt turn on until the temps get up to 180*.

Welcome to the SCT club! You will definitely need to run quality 93 octane fuel, or it will ping under heavy throttle. As was mentioned before, a 180* T-stat and cooler running plugs will work much better with the SCT for you than stock. If you really don't want to change those, you can always have the guy you bought it from adjust the performance tune to work with lower octane, and higher temps. HOPEFULLY you bought it from Hemifever. He doesn't mind adjusting things as much as needed to make his customers happy. As I keep telling everybody who listens, the SCT programmers and Hemifever ROCK!!! Have fun!

Also, I just thought I should mention this. If you have adjusted your CPS in the past to advance your base timing, you NEED to put it back in the original stock position!!! This is very important! I almost forgot to do that on mine when I got my SCT. All of the programming will be relying on the CPS being in the stock position. If it has been modified, the timing will be too far advanced...
