i called them yesterday to see if the mount and balance was still 5$ a tire like it was a couple years ago and they said its 10 now but i can't go there because they aren't allowed to mount used tires either. i have 6 used tires under the house and i was gonna use either the 2 that match the ones i have on there now for a while or put my bfgs back on (about 5k left in them). but since treadwright can get the tires to me in less than 3 days i'm just gonna drive the camaro until they get here. looks like i'll have to drive my dads truck this weekend to go fishing.
I know, i was just comparing the customer service. Theres plenty of places around here that ill take my truck to get them mounted and balanced. I could even take them to my old high school, and do it myself free.

Personally I wouldn't take a chance with used tires. There is way to much risk involved and it isn't worth saving a few dollars.
Thats the thing, theyre not used, their retreads, and they may be a mom and pop place, but doing buisness for 40+ years and hardly any negitive feedback, and a member here who put 40,000+ miles on them? for a 1/3 of the cost? ill go with them. if i do have any problems, just call the company. i dont like pressing 1 for english, and i dont like speaking to someone who can hardly speak english, i could understand the lady clear as day. I highly doubt a big name company will have a better customer svc dept. and i doubt they'll take blame for a faulty tire, much less replace it free (1st 25% of the tread, the rest prorated, but still beats paying 180+ for a new tire) much like dodge refused to admit to the cracked dash, and leaky plenum. but yet did a recal on the dash, and a death flash for the plenum.

Thats why I bought a manual tire changer. Its a little bit of work but I mount all the tires I want for free. I also got a bubble balancer. People can talk all they want about spin balancing being the only way to truly balance a tire. But my tires wear fine and have no shake using just the old bubble balancing method.

and your continuous posting after me is too. lol. j/k

edit, i found a pdf file from retread.org and it explains how retreads are made, and suprisingly, airlines use them, as well as the us military.

http://www.retread.org/PDF/UnderstandingRetreading.pdf

also if the EPA says its safe, then it must be safe.

http://www.epa.gov/osw/conserve/tool...ts/retread.htm

Heres what they say on the site:

"In most situations, retread tires can be driven under the same conditions and at the same speeds as new tires with no loss in safety or comfort. In fact, retread tires have been safely used on school buses, trucks, cars, fire engines, and other emergency vehicles for years. Retreading tires also helps conserve a valuable nonrenewable resource-oil. Every year, retreading saves more than 400 million gallons of oil in North America. Retread tires also help divert thousands of scrap tires from disposal each year."

i ought to call my old high school. i took the t bird up there a couple times and the dodge once before my old shop teacher retired, i don't know if the new one would let me do it. then again, i could take them to the community college and get them mounted for free also.
