I am looking for some help. My truck like to stall when I drive through a big puddle quickly. It will sit there a few minutes then turn over again and be fine. Is there any thing I can do to keep this from happening? Any help would be great.
Check to make sure your distributor cap is tight. Might be getting water into it. Also, what type of air intake are you running? You might be hydrolocking it if your getting water into the air intake. A round filter and many CAI intakes will do this pretty easily.
I've seen trucks up to their grills in water, and know that they have not had any transmission issues. I've had mine in deep water before on river crossings and playing in puddles, and it has done just fine too. I wouldn't necessarily say that his trans is shot just because he went through a few puddles. What type of trans does he have anyway, auto or manual? That will make a difference too.
i only got 4" blocks out back on my truck and bigger springs in the front, and ive had water over the top of the front bumper, and its never stalled out on me. if it does start to bog ill just dump the clutch a lil bit and rev it, and whatever was boggin it a lil goes away. how ever i do no not to do it when it seems like it may water in the cylinders, dont wanna ruin the internals. i think the truck bogs cuz my 02 sensor gets wet, and doesnt like it, but who knows
Remember your coil is on the front of the engine, too...you could be flooding it and causing it to die...I've done that. Pack it really well with bulb/dielectric (sp?) grease around the coil wire boot.
I have a 5 speed 1500 5.2 and my brother has an auto 2500 5.9. both have stock intake and both do the same thing. Mine seems to do better in the puddles. Neither have had transmission problems and it always runs fine after a few minutes.

I am betting you are getting your Cap and Rotor wet or sucking water in teh intake.
