Default fair price?

Looking at a new truck dont know if its a fair price or not. its a 2000 ram 2500 hd larame slt with 56k miles on it, long bed, power windows, locks, remote entry, heated power mirrors, plow with plow prep package and tow package, sliding rear glass, roof lights cruise. body is in pretty good shape couple small knicks in paint and the one fender starting to rust through (suprisssssee... not) the blade is a westernt 7'6 blade freshly painted very poorly but fresh paint none the less. What do you guys think is a fair price for this truck? dealer asking 8995 but will give me a better deal cause my work does a ton of work with them. oh and its got the 5.9 v8

Broken record from me: Do not make any offers until you have it compression tested by your mechanic. If they won't agree, then walk away.

If the compression checks out, $9,000 plus TT&L is way too much. Do you plan on hiring out the plow? I would offer them $2,000 and start negotiating from there.

9 too much? what should the compression numbers come out to be? they wanna add on 3 year 30k mile power train warranty, and gap coverage would bring my total up to 10,500 including tax and title and there gonna give me 4600 for my truck which is what i owe on it.

including tax tag title and warranty and gap coverage? 10,5 is out the door price. 3 year 30k mile power train warranty is 540, gap coverage in case i total the truck is extra 400, truck price 8500 then all the other tax tag n bs brought it to 10,500 out the door.... kbb suggested retail is 9500 dealer, or 7500 private party, ill see if i can get them down to 7500 plus all the other goodies.

I'm serious as a heart attack. I said start negotiating at 2k. You're ready to shell out 7k on a 9 year old truck that's worth 5k -- maybe.

Forget about all that extra crap. That's just money in their pocket.

And KBB is too high. Look it up on Edmunds.

how are these trucks on transmissions? i know my 00 1500 destroyed the transmission thats why i want the powertrain, cause i can get a 1 year 12k miles for 200 or 3 year 30k for 540 so might as well spend the extra 300 and get 2 extra years out of it. cause the 5.9 enjoys sucking plenum gaskets in so that would be covered. found the orig window sticker and it sold for 29k in 00... Window sticker says heavy duty service group, 136 amp al, engine cooling heavy duty, cooler- aux transmission oil, skid plate, trailer tow , heavy duty snow prep, two tone pante, 4 speed auto, anti spin diff, keyless entry , 6 infinity sterio, ac, power window, power lock, cruise, light group, power heated folding mirror. truck sold for 30,435. i'll offer him 7k and see what they say from there. Thanks guys for the help... also someone added back country chrome side steps on it
