Default head light switch

Thanks to everyone for the information and ideas. I did not find this one in particular though. All lights are working (for now) except my exterior cargo light stays on even if the headlight switch is turned all the way clockwise (dimming the dash lights). From everyone's posts it sounds like I have some variant of the headlight switch issue. Anyone else have this happen?

Secondly, this truck had the original head light bulbs so I switched to new Silverlights. Am I asking for trouble by installing a more modern bulb that likely draws more power through the switch.

Thanks for your help.

LMC Truck makes a relay harness, that powers the headlights from the battery, thru a relay, so the headlight switch only controls the low-draw relays. Then it wouldn't matter what headlights ya had in there.

Do you dome lights work?

Yep, dome and overhead console lights work fine. that was my first thought as well. I think I'm going to have to crack open the dash and have a look at the switch. I just hope I don crack the gage bezel cover.

You know those weird shaped forks you never use that are lying there in the kitchen drawer.? They work pretty good for panel removal and nobody will miss them .

I called LMC and asked which headlight harness I should use to operate the Sport headlights that I installed in my 96. They couldn't tell me. I asked to speak to tech support. They said they have no tech support I also hear you can't find replacement relays for the harness. Any suggestions?

Make your own. Couple relays, some spade connectors, crimping tool, and heat-shrink tubing. Various flavors of fat wire. I think there is a wiring diagram around here somewhere for it.

Default Snowplow lighting

Has anyone done the upgrade or used the LMC harness on a truck with snowplow lighting? I wonder if it would wire differently.
