If those are incadecent bulbs (which I assume they are) you should use a relay if you are going to tie them into your parking lights.

You might want to look at getting some LED replacment bulbs for those. I got some at www.superbrightleds.com.

If you dig through a couple of the sticky threads at the top of the forum, you should be able to find the "Merry Christmas" thread that has a link to the 2001 FSM. It will help you figure out what color the wire is.

Good Luck,
Cartman

Agreed. You should use a relay with the incandescent bulbs.

ok so insted of running that wire from the battery run it from one of the wires that controls my lights. Ill look at the merry christmas thread for help on the wire color. As of now i am a little paranoid about catching my truck on fire because i had a fuse catch on fire yesterday.. And why would i want to run another type of bulb? looked on the super white site and didnt see much of anything that would help me

Did you look to see if the wiring was already there in one of the pillars? The wire you are looking for out the headlight switch is black with yellow tracer.

If you want to wire them up correctly, look at the following pages in the Service Manual from the Merry Christmas thread:

8W-50-3
8W-50-7
8W-50-8
8W-90-24

You do not need to use a relay for the cab lights as they do not draw enough current. Note that the parking light circuit requires a 20A fuse though. If you want the lights to be as bright as possible, then wire up a ground harness and ground it to G302 as shown. If you just rely on the cab sheet metal, the grounds may degrade over time. Post pics of your install when finished.

im going to pop off my light switch and look for the yellow wire. I didnt see any wires in the pillars. And what yall are talking about is cutting part of the wire from the lights and attaching another wire to it and ground it somewhere else? In the diagram it shows g302 is right in the middle... if i run a wire right from the middle i would have to run a pretty long cable to ground off something other than the roof metal.
