ford 5.4 supercharger why not the 5.9
ok , just curious about this
can you put a procharger or supercharger on a stock 5.9???
reason i ask is because ford came out with that lightning that came supercharged on a stock 5.4 triton
so why cant we do it to a stock 360 ??
and where can we find a pro-charger for them??

There are several superchargers out there. Due to several factors, many companies have discontinued manufacturing them for an obsolete and obscure (relatively speaking, MOPARS are always a bit "obscure") model of truck.
Powerdyne still makes one, IIRC. So does Procharger, (unless that has changed recently, they were a sponsor here for a while). Paxton and Kenne Bell both made them years ago. I've heard the Kenne Bell units were pretty nice.
Be careful if you find one used. You need to make sure you get EVERYTHING that you need: fuel pump, pulleys, 2 bar map sensor, air hat, tubing, intercooler if it had one, etc. You don't want to install one missing a part. And be sure you know exactly how much boost a stock truck can take. I wouldn't push more than 6-7PSI without upgrading some components.
Power ain't cheap.

Adding boost, you want good/even compression across the board and a well maintained truck. If its over 100k, put in new MLS or MLC headgaskets. Best to add a trans cooler, deep trans pan & temp sensor/gauge & shift kit or the trans probably wont last long.
Like aims4 say if used be carefull. Also, mileage will make a difference, may need a rebuild.
Kenne Bell, headunit was good, optimizer (fuel management) was crap. They come up used now n then (forum sales/ebay/other chats) Id use an Aeromotive fmu & a BTM (boost timing retard) instead of the optimizer.
Powerdyne, cheapest s/c available. I would avoid it. Not sure if they still do or not but use to supply, plastic tb hat(crack/leak), no fmu (boost needs fuel) head unit tends to blow internal drive belt & bearings are known to fail quickly.
Procharger, good headunit with self contained oil (no tapping pan/cross contamination), supply cai w/K&N, Aeromotive digital fmu (variable rate fuel management) & 2core air to air intercooler and literally everything else needed to install. (fairly decent instructions) Most places kits start at 4600 for the P-1SC(intended for stock Ram) rated for 8-9psi generally gives 7-8 . D-1SC is 5000 w/claimed 10-12psi gives 9-11(mines polished w/3core). Polished headunit is 250 & 3core upgrade for 350 (3core the way to go) May find the odd Ram kit around on ebay or in this & other forums sales section.
Vortech doesnt make a specific Ram kit but other shops do put them together. Good head units, lots of accessories available, polished kit is head/pipe/hat. Generally start at 3600 but no intercooler & fixed rate fmu. Lots of used headunits around on ebay, may find the odd kit for a Ram.

125HP shot of nitrous is much easier, more power vs 6-7 psi of boost, cheaper, more reliable, no tuning issues, no belt slippage issues, no worry of circulating debris into your engine via the supercharger using your engines oil supply, but you won't have that "whine". Theres a reason you seem used blowers for sale all over ebay, these forums and craigslist, they suck lol Run a few searches and read up on them before spending a penny. just my opinion based on years of watching real life friends and forum friends wasting money with little results. good luck
ps- The lightnings don't have the greatest longevity from what I have seen, most are ragged out and don't run as good as new by 50,000 miles.
