Overhead Console temp guage not working
No problem, man. I had a bald spot in my head trying to figure the same damn thing out too. Hell, even my "5 star" dealer couldn't figure out where in the hell was supposed to go.
so thats what thing is, i always wondered that
no wonder during the winter, if you leave the truck idling for several minutes when its warm, the temp will read like 50 degrees, being so close to the rad

Forgot to ever post what I did lol. The sensor and old harness were left on my old hood. Unfortunately the sensor had been damaged in the wreck, so I had to buy a new one. Works great now.
I found the harness. Its beside the radiator on the drivers side resting on the bumper. Its kind of blue and white with nothing attached to it D: Time to get a new sensor when Napa opens tomorrow.
Thanks for the pictures. I was woundering what that connection was for while I was wiring the fog lights. Actually there is no conector just the wires, so I suspect the prior owner cut off the conector thinking it was something else. Now I can check off one more thing fixed here soon.
A couple of more months and I should know more then enough to get into trouble :-)

I hope this is still active. I just bought a 1996 1500 4x4 ExCab 5.9L today and when I purchased the truck the overhead console was working, this afternoon when I went to go get some gas it was no longer working. I opened it up to check the harness but all seemed good. Could there possibly be a fuse somewhere for that entire console?
Not sure if there is a specific fuse for just that, but you should check them all anyway. Side of dash and under hood. You"ll also want to get a Haynes manual and download an OEM manual from the FAQ/DIY section, in the event you want to trace wires.
