Let's just say it is a bearing. How long should it go before I get major knocking?

The reason why I ask is, it's been doing this for several months. I just took the truck up in the mountains of West VA this past weekend with 6 people in the cab and the rattle noise hasn't got any louder. I didn't baby the truck either. I mean I didn't abuse it, but I didn't take it easy either.

I have read that should go away when the engine warms up? Mine doesn't start until the engine gets warm.

Very quickly. Minutes or hours. That's why I don't think it's a rod.

I think I am going to check the exhaust manifold gasket next along with the rocker arms, etc.

my truck has a slight tick around 2500 to 3000 rpms.. also i am well aware when i bought the truck that the gasket on the exhaust manifold is leaking. this causes the tick. it could also be a lifter in your truck im not sure.. but if ur worried about an injector you could always try some lucas fuel injector cleaner that you dump into your gas. you can buy it at auto zone for like 8.99... i believe
