Transmission bands
Does anybody know what kind of socket will fit the square adjusting screw on the front band.
I can get on it with a 9mm open end wrench but not a socket and I can't set it to the specific torque with an open end.

Another trick that I found out myself is that if you don't have the specific 4 or 8 point socket is that many garage mechanics like myself have 6pt and 12pt sockets. A 12 pt would fit also. I'm not 100% sure on the size though. I just rebuilt my 46RE trans and the Rear band inside the tranny pan is a 5/16 square nut and the outside one is a torques bit.
It's called an E-type socket. Works on the front one,IIRC it was an E-12. My set had 10,12 And 14. No 11 or 13, so I had to make some thing up to do the reverse one. Trust me, NO 6 or 12 point will work, sae or metric.

What type of trans do you have zman? I have the 46RE and the outside adjustment (I believe it to be the front band) has a torx head adjuster and a standard lock nut. The only reason I know this is because I just had my trans on the bench Saturday rebuilding it and I had to adjust it.
