Thank you all for the big heads up on 4wheelparts. I will not be giving them my business that's for sure. I'll just keep looking around trying to find the best prices on rims.

Besides the two wheels that I've referred you to, do any of you guys have any other preferances you think would look good in my truck in a 17x9 rim??

**Also, I don't really know much about the whole backspacing ordeal. Silver, you said my offroad wheel has a backspacing of 5.25. So, what kind of backspacing should I be looking for that will help make my tires stick out of the fenders a little more? Thanks!

I'd say 4.75 would probably be about perfect. I wouldn't go lower then 4.5".
Is Maine ok with tires sticking out? I know i some states, it is illegal to have them sticking out more then a certain amount. You'd have to install flares to be legal.

Why not stick out more? wear and tear on the rig? those rims I mentioned earlier were 4" backspacing.

Ya, the further out you go, the more stress on the hubs, escpecially if your running larger then stock tires. That's why I kept my stock off-road wheels when I went to 35's, even though I rub the control arms at full lock.

Sounds to me like they are saying your tires can't stick out any. Aftermarket flares must cover any part of the tread that sticks out past the fenders. Unless you have to pass regular vehicle inspections, I would doubt that it is heavily enforced, but you might find the occasional cop that just wants to be an a-hole.

or worse yet , if that tire does stick out with out flares and kicks up a stone onto another car , then that person reports damage and gets the law involved theres the problem . Most state insp garages , police will let it slide with the wheels sticking out , buttttt the law says tires can not stick out of the fender with out flares and the law also says that the flares can only stick out so many inches.

with his luck i would just leave that truck alone...

Looks like I'm not going with the Procomps I showed you, they are way too expensive. The Moto Metal 955s are a lot more in my price range. Their offset is 4.53. Do you think that's pushing it? I know that there are some laws stipulated about tires sticking out, but I rarely see guys getting trouble for it. There are a handful of guys with jacked trucks that have tires oozing outside the factory fender wall. I'm only look for about an inch to stick out (to compensate for my smaller tires). If I can achieve the tires sticking out a little bit, maybe I won't be so resentful towards the fact I have 285s. I really can't put flares back on this truck though, I just finished having my two front fenders repainted where it had been satin finished where the flares used to be. So I have to keep them off. How much is a 4.53 backspace going to make my tires stick out from where they are now?

If anybody does have pictures with this set-up, or something similar, it'd be greatly appreciated, thanks.
