Why do you have to keep them off? I cant see why?

Because it will rub his paint off the side of the fender again, just like my flairs did to my trucks fenders.

I have never liked the way flares look on a 2nd gen Ram, even when the tires are sticking out. 3rd gens look ok with flares though.

Well if the stock off road wheels are 8" wide with 5.25" backspacing, and your new wheels will be 1" wider and have 3/4" (roughly) less backspacing, my math calculations say that each tire will stick out about 1 1/4" farther than your current setup.

But yes, pics would be nice

Because I just finished spending money having the front fenders repainted because I've chosen not to have the fender flares on anymore.

I personally liked the look of my fender flares on the front, but the rear killed me, swallowed the tire too much. I just wish 2nd gen. dodges had something a little more fancy for the front fenders; it's just sort of dull and flat.

When I took my fender flares off, I could see where the paint had faded a tad, but it's nothing a detail cannot finesse. However, on one of my front fenders, when I removed the fender, it was completely satin. The guy must have had boughten a new fender, put the fender flare on, and had it painted all at once, that's my only guess. The other front fender had some severe scratches, so I just went ahead and had both front fenders freshly painted. The rears for whatever reason did not get effected by the fenders, and are in great shape. I have to wait 30 days before I can have the truck waxed.

I like this thread...anyway...

So with 4 backspacing and 285 they stick out a lot on mine...1.5 inches I think...probably get a cop attention easily that much...plus the wear and tear..guess I should just get a rim with 4.5 backspacing :|
