Which HID?
Iv been noticing a few of you guys have done HID conversions to your trucks. I would like to do my truck too but i dont know anything about them. I would also like to do my fog lamps but i hear that our lenses cant handle the heat... but i see some of you have them. Can someone point me in the right direction as to what is needed, bulb style, ballast, wiring, etc. I have been on the DDM site and the prices look good, unless im missing something. help me out please
ok i know there is a shootout happening in another HID thread right now. thats why i started this one.... no shooting. I know some of you have good setups, i just wanna know what your using.
If you do HIDs, don't get over 6000k unless you want looks over performance. I'd advise you to stick around 5000k-6000k, nice looks and good performance. Higher than that and you start looking blue, even purple if you go high enough, and you see less, and less, and less...

I got both my set for the bike and car from XenithXenons.com They are just plug and play kits. Some guys do retrofits which is the way to go but it requires a bit of money and work. Or you can pay someone and then it just requires a lot of money.
Honest to god, take you're pick, go with a good deal. They are all made in China, mostly by the same company. I've had good luck with DDM, but I know there are some places based in the Midwest and East coast that can get you better shipping rates.
Whatever you do, don't buy from SharpHID. John Sharp is a fking idiot.

I looked at pictures quite a bit and they all look different depending on how the picture was taken. My 8000k ones are white with a fair bit of blue. The 6000k ones are a darkish blue sort of. Not really blue but blue compared to factory. You can search on Yahoo or something for different color temps of HID's to see a general idea of what they look like. The 8000k ones are more of the color I wanted than they appeared to be in most of the pictures comparing them side by side though. I'm not sure where I saw the picture bit I've seen one of it comparing different color temps side by side.

That Kelvin chart should answer your questions.
I strongly advise against anything over 5000K though. The farther you stray into blue territory, the less light your eyes can see. Also blue headlights are a cop magnet. Most people dont realize, that HID's appear blue on high end cars because of the projector lens, not because of the bulb. ALL cars w/ OEM HID use 4300K bulbs.
When you are done, make sure you aim them down, and enjoy!
