the week after i bought my truck, i went out and bought a leveling kit for my front-end. all it is, is a 2" spacer that sits between the coils and the coil bracket. and it was very easy to install. all you do is jack the front of the truck up so the tires are off the ground...take the tires off...disconnect the sway-bar links and tie-rod so the axel drops even more..that way you can take out the shocks and springs. then you just bolt the spacer to where the top of the spring goes and fasten everything back together. that 2 inches of lift levels the truck out perfectly. i did that to mine. but with the load in the box topic...what i'm doing is taking my leaf springs into a local shop to be put through a roller, which gives them more arch and more of a "spring" and it also lifts the rear end by a couple inches. rather than buying new leafs or add-a-leafs

Do you have the offroad edition like myself? So are you saying your going to lift your rear up more as well? I just got my truck back today with the 305s, and the front could definitely use a pop in the front now.

IMO, that is not worth it. Granted, yes, its cheaper than new leaf springs or add-a-leafs. But they will eventually "dearch" and you'll be left with no lift/drooping springs. Then ya gotta do it over again.

If you're going to do it, spend a little more up front and do it right, rather than even more later or over time. My two cents.

I have a question about a coilspring.

If I chose to buy a larger coil spring instead of a coil spacer, what size should I get. Originally I was just going to purchase a 1.5" spacer. If I wanted the same amount of lift from a coilspring, what size should I get. Keep in mind, this is the offroad edition. Thanks!

3" coils (for a regular ram) will be the same height as 1.5" spacers on a set of off road coils.

if you get the spacers get the spacers from hellbentsteel.com. They are excellent spacers for a great price, I love mine, they are HEAVY DUTY and look real nice, a good powdercoated black and they come clean almost impossibly easy. I saw guys with coil spacers on their trucks that just would not come clean like mine.

Those are some pretty darn nice prices, but they don't seem to offer the size I'm looking for. I've been advised from fellow forum members to go with the 1.5" spacer to play it safe. I can't seem to see a 1.5" spacer anywhere on that site though?

The 2 inch should be fine, the changes of pressure alone will raise the center of your cab also, and the pivot will level out the back end, but the release of all the pressure and evening the pressure out throughout the truck will actually slightly raise your back end also, it did with mine, so the 2 inches should not overraise your front end, and if it does, go out get a 1 inch add a leaf, degrease all your leafs, then clean them all together so the addaleaf matches and you can still argue that you dont have any lift to give the tranny problems but if you dont desire those results then yeah, hellbentsteel isnt the greatest option, I would send the guy an email though and ask him if he would do a 1.5 inch for you, he probably would, hes a nice guy with really good customer service, and great products. He also ships perfectly fast, I got mine 4 days after I ordered it and got regular shipping, cheap shipping.

I guess I'm not too worried about the 2" making the front end higher than the rear, but that a lot of the guys says that a 2" spacer on an offroad edition would somewhat be maxing out the front end components on the 1/2 ton. I was always under the impression that the offroad edition had an upgraded front end to accomodate for the 1.5" coil spring, but I guess it's the same as regular rams besides the larger spring. So if I installed the 1.5" spacer, it'd be 3" overall in the front. I'll definetly ask him though if he'd make a 1.5" spacer. I'm very eager to pop my front end up. With the 305s, the truck is asking for a little help up front. On a side note, does anybody know what the offroad edition used to heighten the rear up over regular rams? Just an extra 1 or 2 leafs?

I didnt realize the offroad edition had an added spring... otherwise it would just be a 3/4 ton... I thought the block was just larger...
