Maybe it's just me, but that thread explains what you have to do pretty well, providing you purchase the items that are specified.

Maybe it's just my point of view, but don't we have a CAI already from the factory? On my '99 the filter housing has a long tube connected to it to pick up ambiant air from in between the inner/outer fenders. All the aftermarket CAI kits put the filter inside the engine compartment where i imagine the air is warmer?

Either way, I'm not going to change mine because I do my share of off-roading and aftermarket kits would all leave the filter exposed to mud.

technically, yes but most CAIs do more than get "colder" air, they also provide smooth piping to get rid of the turbulence that the stock piece creates

How about this... I know im gonna get people riled up with this one!

I had a cracked intake box anyway, so i decided to do this... oh and by the way, this is a completely free mod... so thats good for us poor folk.. =)

It doesn't look all that great, but its the same exact thing as the top hat, only you have a place to put your vent hose... Screw all that other shiz:
