Yup that's what it is. A lot of guys don't even run these. However, you should be able to get a replacement one pretty easily and for not much money.

Why and how would you not run these?
Would it be possible to just buy a new cylinder?
Whats the advantage of running a procomp or another high quality brand as oppsed to running a oem?

And i was going through a trench and i kind of avoided a hole.. but ended up running right into a really deep one next to the one i avoided. My front tires werent even touching the ground. Lucky a guy had his 1500 hemi out there to pull me out. Also im assuming this is fairly easy to do. I read a few installation books on these and it does not seem difficult at all.

They are really only useful for eliminating steering shimmy which is usually linked to running larger tires on the streets. If you spend most of your time in the dirt and don't do much freeway or high speed driving, you don't really need one.

That's what everyone is telling you to do.

You get what you pay for. Better units use stronger materials, have better dampening, are tougher for oversized tires and will take more abuse while out on the trails.

so would it be possible to run around without one on for about 2 weeks (shipping) without damaging anything? My tires are 285/75/R16 so they aren't really over sized. And i wont be going off road until i get a new damper and larger tires.

yes.
you can also run it with the damaged one, as long as its not interfering with your steering.

when i turn to the right it sticks a little bit so i'd much rather run it without one on for a little while.

on and my new sig pic is where i got stuck at.

Learn to stay out of RUTS!

But you can drive without one for ever, you might just notice the truck wanting to wonder around by itself a little more. You'll notice more steering input will be needed to keep it pointed in the direction you want it to go.
