Done. There's no oil squirting out anywhere and it seems to run fine, so it's at least a success for now. My back hurts and I have an ugly bruise where the hood latch got me in the gut.

Who the hell thought it would be a good idea to put a distributor back there?

Anyway, I thought it went well. Thanks all for your advice 'n ****. I think that if a person just takes their time and researches before hand, this is not a hard job. Just time consuming.

Yesterday, I drove it about 120 miles round trip to see my parents, and it was fine. This morning it's leaking antifreeze like a mfkr, right around where the heater hose and thermostat housing are. So it's either leaking from one of those or the manifold gasket is leaking on that end. I torqued it in a warm garage, and it was -2 this morning. I guess I'm taking a bunch of **** off again.

That's gotta suck. Hope it's something simple and not your intake gasket.

Could be the sending unit also.

I hope so. I forgot that on the manifold when I ran it through the dishwasher. Either that or the thermostat housing. I hope.

Damn. I hate when that type of stuff happens. Maybe it's just the thermostat housing.

Well maybe you'll be real lucky and it's just a clamp.

I hope so. I can't see how it could be the gasket. I followed the torqueing instructions to the letter, and put threadlocker on the threads. It almost has to be either the thermostat housing, heater hose connection, or the sending unit. At least that's what I'll keep telling myself until I get the fan and accessories off.

When my Ram was leaking like a sieve I found that it was the intake manifold gaskets, but mine was leaking in the back. It developed the leak months after I had installed the manifold. Hope that it's something else like a loose hose or a blown Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor.

If it is the gasket, is there any chance at all that re torquing it will stop the leak?
