It's at a stand still right now. I'm hope next month that I'll be able to do more with it. I got the hubs and ball joints done this month so you guys should start seeing progress again on the engine soon!!

Ok guys and girls, after much delay and other headaches I am finally back to the 408 build. Here's a pic of the recent parts purchased minus the head gaskets, there coming from Cometic Gaskets.

By the way if you haven't noticed I moved the pic of the build around in photobucket, here is a link to the pics of this build http://s38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...5/408%20build/

is that the melling HV oil pump?

I learned 2 great tips for installing the oil pan gasket if the engine's already in,

1.tie a string thru the bolt holes and the gaskets bolt holes on each of the four corners. It'll hold it in place while you maneuver the pan under the vehicle. then after you get thee bolts started, cut the strings and remove so they don't wick oil.

2. Use a dab of RTV in the corners where the gasket makes the circular turns for the timing chain cover and the rear main in the back. Less chance of leaks.

It's just the oem spec oil pump. There's no need for high volume on this build. Thanks for the tips. I hope I never have to pull the pan once its in the truck lol. My factory shop manual say to put rtv on the rear main where it mates to the block. I'm guessing the same area you are describing.

Is that one of those readers like the MSD Dashawk? I was thinking about getting one of those one day.

It does most every thing the dashhawk does and more. Here is a link if you want to read about it http://www.plxdevices.com/multigauges.html.

Well got the 408 in and running. Needs a few minor things done to it like adjust the tune and what not. Here's a video of the first start up.

I am in the middle of building the same engine with almost the same parts!

Except I have the forged pistons and crank.

I will run an Kenne Bell with 10 PSI and the heads are ported and the kegger is modified.

The cam I have is 208/212 with .515 cross valve lift and the intake at 111.

I mostly use propane so for the Propane I use MegasquirtII with wideband.

Fort he normal gas I have nothing yet

Do you have an SCT or what ecu do you run?

Thanks and greetimgs,

Erik.
