Default why are these transmissions bad?

I've heard nothing but horror stories about these 2nd gen automatic trannys. I own one and have had nothing but good luck so far (knock on wood). what makes them so bad? what fails in them often? good signs i'm going to lose one? I've got 3/4 ton V8 automatic and i pull a 20 ft boat, 2 place horse trailer, car trailers and haven't had any fuss. The only time i was scared was when i had that horsetrailer full of firewood and the thing must of weighed 7-9000 lbs, but i only had to pull that for 3 miles. but in those three miles there were some hills where all i could picture was the tranny snapping and the truck and trailer and me having a fun trip back down the hill. I'm taking the truck into a mechanic tomorrow to have the engine tuned up and tranny serviced so i can hopefully avoid tranny troubles.

From what I have heard, the stock trannys were built with some fairly cheap parts to save Dodge money and therefore they go out after anywhere between around 60k to 120k. Once you get the trans rebuilt, it should probably last you until you get rid of the truck (That is as long as your trans oil pump doesn't go out on ya...Mine did).

My pump went out at 28k. The again at about 36k.

They overheat easily too.

My pump went out and I started leaking fluid out of my inspection cover (signs of a bad front seal) and when I dropped the trans I found out that from the pump going out my TC had basically welded itself to my oil pump and that is why I was leaking fluid.

Yours is probably still running good because you have the 47rh which is stronger than the
46's.
1. The valve body does not allow oil to circulate in park
2. The overdrive unit was just slapped on the back
3. Not many people adjust the TV cable which leads to soft shifts over time which in
turn makes the tranny slip more.
4. Not many people actually get their tranny serviced properly.

Just some things I've noticed

Ever since the rebuild, I have had mine serviced about every 10-15k miles (diagnostics, full flush, band adjustment, etc...). It has been fine since it was rebuild with 36k, and I now have about 96k on the truck.
