gears question
ok, as a few of you may know, i do avide off roading, i am deployed to iraq as of april 7th, so my truck wont really be getting driven other then every now and then from my dad to keep the oil in the right places...
also as many of you probably dont know, i am heavily moding the heck out of the truck while i am in country because my paycheck just about doubles...
i am going to have the fabtech 5.5" long arm lift, and a black diomand 3" body lift and i will be running as street tires a set of 35X12.50R15 BFG all terrains, along with a set of 37X13.00R16 boggers... so i ned to find a set of gers for my truck to handle that... nd still be an ify ok on the street ( to keep up with traffic) because this will be a drivable street truck so i can get to the mud holes on the week ends and drive to the local car shows...
so what numbers would you guys be talking for a ring and pinion... i mean i want to run the ARB Air lockers front and rear, and have an extreme duty trans put in, with a well built 318 in front ( nothing massive just more then what i have)
i was thinking at first 4:10's then i accually thought about it and noticed tht was very stupid of me i know... but now i am trying to find a set of 4.56 gears... i cant find anywhere that sells them for the 9.25 i have. or would i be better off finding a dana 60 rear and doing that route?
did any of the 2nd gen dodges come with dana 60 rears?

At least 4.56. It depends on how much you run those 37s and if you have hills. I would probably go higher anyway because you're going to have a lot of wind and road resistance to compensate for.
I don't know why you can't find gears for the rear. There are a lot of companies that make them.

Yep, I agree with 4.88's. And just a question... if you are going to run 37" boggers for wheeling, why don't you put 37" all terrains on for the street?
As far as upgrading axles goes, I wouldn't be too worried about the rear, its the front. And you can get up to 4.88's for the stock 44/9.25 axles.
3/4-1 tons came with 60's in the front and the rear is either a 60/70/80, depending on if its a gasser/diesel/manual.
Axle upgrading is a tuff decision. You can run 35-37's safely with stock axles and moderate wheeling, but if you like to beat on your truck you will start having issues. The 60's are basically a bolt in swap, but drive shafts usually have to be changed slightly to work (yokes and sometimes lengths). You also have to get new wheels to fit the 8 lugs. Starts getting expensive fast... but so does fixing broken half ton axles.

You'll need new rims as the D60 has an 8 lug hub.
