That is an old urban myth. There is nothing wrong with armour all. It won't extend the life, but it surely doesn't decrease it.

Why would anyone want to put vinyl protectant on a plastic dash? It's not padded.

guess i should stop using armor-all and buy a dash cover while mine is still in one piece...

On plastic, it doesn't matter, but on vinyl, Armor All dries it out over time unless it's applied almost weekly. Otherwise, for vinyl, the best protectants are either Baby Oil or Vaseline.

mines a 98 and its fine. it mostly sat in one spot for 5 years. it only moved once or twice each week.
