we have a place called KMS Tools, its kind of a wholesale tool place. i dont know what kind of stores you have, but they sell mostly cheaper no-name brands, which is good for little tools you will probobly only use once or twice.
Kinda like Harbor Freight Tools. Cheap stuff, but will work in a pinch.

Maybe bad switch, maybe your previous owner did some extra curricular wiring. You did say you had to spend some money on new wiring? Not everyone that messes with their vehicles knows what they are doing, or is meticulous enough to be sure to leave everything just right when the button it up.
