To Lift or not to Lift

To Lift or not to Lift
Before anyone says it I'll call myself a POSER
I love the look of a lifted truck I have a 2WD 01 Ram 1500 and I want to know if I could put any lift in it without extending the Drive Shaft? The DS is starting to make a whirring noise when placed in gear up to 30 - 40 mph so it's going to need service anyway.
My Truck has the normal suspension but I have been mistakenly identified as a 4WD and asked if it was lifted.
I don't want much maybe a 2" or so lift I just want to add beefier wheels and tires and look COOL
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

That's what I was hoping to hear. How hard is it to install a 2" suspension lift kit I'm not an ace mechanic but I'm not afraid to try any repair as long as I can undo any screw ups. You think I'll get sand kicked in my face at the 4WD rally's if I'm discovered (Poser)
MowHawk, I was looking at the photo why do you choose the 2 piece door vent viser as opposed to the 4 piece?
Thanks
