Default Just realized how much of a difference my Superchip made...

I've had my Superchip for a long time, but never really tuned it to anything other than performance. When I wanted to pass or cut in front of someone, I did it with no problem. But at the same time, it still felt as though my stock gearing was slowing me down horribly. But, since gas started getting high again, I decided to tune it to 87 octane. Holy crap. I tried to beat a guy coming off the freeway ramp, and I was like "What the hell?!" It felt slow as ever! I couldn't get in front at all, and nearly caused a collision. When it was in performance, I would have been burning the tires off her. Just goes to show how much the "death flash" did to performance and how much of a HUGE gain the Superchip did to reverse that flash. Alot of people contemplate on Superchips performance, but I'll be damned if any of was negative. Still need to change my gearing to benefit all of the modules potential...

Just curious, did you ever use the 97 octane setting, or just go straight to performance out of the box?

I used the 87 when I first bought it cuz my plenum gasket was toast, and it pinged. But once I fixed it, I only used performance....and DAMN, it was a change. I can literally burn my tires like crazy with performance.

How much of a drop off is there in mpg from the two settings? Is it simply a matter of paying the extra $ per gallon, or is there a drop of in mileage? (assuming one can keep the foot out of it)

Its bad when your foots on it alot...prolly less than ten mpg. I filled up every week. And i only drive 5 miles to work and 10 miles to school...but when its on performance and you drive normally...its a little better. Its definantly noticable

The 87 setting seems somewhat better than stock, although i dont know for a fact.

I only drive 10-20 miles a week, so I really don't care about mileage, just curious what the difference is. Glad I got a deal on ebay, but now annoyed it's taking until Friday to get the thing..lol.

lol..knowing me, I'll put it on performance and never look back. Just was curious what people are seeing, since all the performance numbers I see online are based only on the performance mode. Looks like the published data is 47hp and 59 ft torque in performance.

If the mileage is fairly similar with 'adult' driving, might not care about the low octane driving. The extra 5 bucks a tank every couple weeks isn't a big deal to me.
