Default So I bought a Superchips tuner...

...and I gotta say I'm not impressed. I bought a Superchips flashpaq 3815 for $250. The only thing I noticed was that OD engages at really goofy speeds. Instead of dropping onto OD at 40mph like it always did before, it only engages above 53mph. It's kinda annoying, and now I'm running higher rpms from 40-50mph, which is the typical speeds I run around town.

I got the tuner in order to get rid of the death flash.

I felt no difference in power with the 87 tune, and I had a full tank of 89 octane gas. Truck is a '99 4x4 with a 5.9. Current mods are FM muffler, Magnaflow cat, 180* tstat, and a hughes plenum kit (plenum is NOT leaking)

I can't even get the tires to chirp from a stop. What's going on? Does the tuner take time to adjust? Could it be that the 89 octane gas is messing with the 87 tune?

Yea, the 93 tune is the only way to if your looking for power. When mine's on the performance tune, I can burn the tires like you can't imagine, but I also run 93 octane fuel. Everyone here just discussed this topic lol, check that out too.

Yup, not much difference with the 87 tune. Its a reduced tune for MPGs, or so they say, and ain't much better than the death flash.

The 91 (its not 93, by the way ) tune is where most people get their best mileage, as well as obviously the most power.

The biggest purpose to the chips is to remove the flash. If you want performance there a lot more work to be done than just a chip.

A supercharger would give you the horsepower your looking for.
