Default Electrical problem... Please help.

My brake lights and rear turn signals are not working (all front lights are OK). I was oblivious to this until someone behind me honked and flipped me off while I was making a turn. The tail lights come on, and reverse lights, but no brakes or turn signals on either side. I checked the brake light switch under the dash according to the Haynes manual, and it's good, and I've got voltage at the wiring harness there, as well. I followed the wiring all the way from back to front to check for loose connections, broken wires, etc. Everything seems fine. All fuses are good. If I followed it correctly, it seems that the wiring harness goes from the rear, to the instrument guage cluster, to the fuse block. Is this correct, and what is the likely problem? Is there a relay or something that I'm missing? On the advice of a Chrysler mechanic, I replaced the turn signal/multifunction switch. That didn't help. Someone please help me. I'm sick of getting honked at. Thank you.

What about the fuses? Did you check them? There are two connections under the drivers door as well that might have a bad connection. You could try taking the plugs apart and cleaning the contacts and putting some die-electric grease in there. Do you have a haynes or factory manual? If so then check for power from the connector under the door at the forward side and if you have power there then check for power on the bed side of the connector after putting connector back together. If you have power there then move along every couple of feet checking for power along the way and then you will find where power is lost and make your repair as necessary.

I am having the same issues : No brake lights and no turn signal lights in rear.

1994 Dodge Ram 1500 2 wheel drive, 318 motor

I have done the following:
1. checked all fuses and relays
2. check wiring from back light assemblies to front of truck
3. checked all bulbs
4. replaced stoplight switch (by break peddle)
5. checked for voltage in light socket

after all of this i still have no brake lights or turn signals in the back any help would be greatly appreciated
i have also searched and searched this site and have not found any answers that work if there is one please direct me to it and i apoligize for posting something that has already been answered.

A word on the flasher unit:

By design, Dodge ran the power through the flasher unit and, a friend of mine had a 99 that had the same issues as described here. Root cause was: the flasher unit was malfunctioning thus not allowing power to continue to the rear for completing the CKT.

One and the same.

That's just weird. Re-check your fuses.

Check the wiring at the multifunction switch inside the steering column. Need to pull the covers off to expose the wiring. Seems the folks that have tilt steering have issues with wires pulling out of the connector on the switch.
