Exclamation i think i need a new tranny..need help

any time i go from D (drive) to R (reverse) or any other gear my transmission gets stuck..then it makes this loud noise like it hits something and only then can i drive away, other wise it seems like i put it in neutral till it kicks in

do i need a new tranny??? if so whats a good reliable transmission i can buy and what would be the total cost..??

thanks, Eric

If it's a 4wd the transfer case could be bad.

What about Part to gear? When it "kicks in" does it run and shift fine?

Maybe you should check out the linkage going to the tranny. You could also have an internal problem inside the steering column. Mine broke internally and I had to replace the column.

I think there is a little confusion as to what is actually going on here.
