checked double checked and checked again. Im 95% sure that it is not the plenum. When I first bought this truck it was using oil. I assumed like most that it was the Plenum. After I replace the belly pan and gasket the oil consumption didn't change. I looked down there today and everything is clean.
I did do the compresion test. Everything came out good and I'm pretty sure of what the problem is.
1 =140 5 = 149
2 = 135 6 = 150
3 = 139 7 = 145
4 = 144 8 = 150
Number two and number 3 are a little low but I'm pretty sure I just didn't let the motor spin enough times. Here is the interesting thing that I found. I started at #1 wich was the front passenger side cylinder. When I got to 6 I pulled the plug and it was dripping oil. The compresions fine so it's either the plenum or the valve stem seal. Either way I'm going to do both. Here is what is making me scratch my head. I'm sure that leak has been there since I bought the truck. So why am I having the problem now? Is it because the original O2 sensors could handle the oil in the exhaust and the new ones can't? I think the originals might have been a little farther out of the exhaust stream. The other thing is why have I not had a fouled plug. I am running mobil 1 but I wouldn't think that would matter.
