*sigh* Another Tuner Thread
Technically, 1995 was the cut off. 1996-1997 were freaky years for the control system.
Apparently, they aren't full blown OBDII, but rather a combination of the two. I am anxiously awaiting funds for an SC to test this issue out. Hopefully I wont get burnt on buying one and then not being able to use it, but from what I see these hold their value very very well.

They hold their value OK. I've seen used tuners go for anywhere between $150 to $250, and you can get them brand new for $350-$400 usually. Almost 50% return on a used electronic gadget is pretty darn good, especially when you look at PC parts. The only computers that get anywhere near that good of a return when resold as used are Macs.
Hey this world can't handle that kind of machine. We have to purchase something that is almost guaranteed to fail at some point. And that obviously holds true, or we wouldn't be on this forum.

Everything designed by humans fails.
Good thing Steve isn't human.
Then again, neither is Mr. Gates, some days I swear he's Lucifer in human form, laughing at our suffering as he throws another wad of cash into his fireplace. Who needs firewood!
I wonder if Fiat will save Chrysler or ruin it.

Craigslist might be worth a look also, but since they are vehicle specific it would be like hitting the lotto getting one there.
Ah, I never tried it. Soon after I posted this thread and we hashed all this out, I made the decision to pretty well stop the modding on my truck. I don't plan on using this truck as a DD here in about six months, so I can't justify spending $300.00 hoping that it will work for me for six months. Besides, the route I'm going with it, there wont be a computer that needs tuning.... (440/727)
