Time for a lift. Now the questions!
I plan on buying a 3" lift (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3-94-...ht_4183wt_1221) with add-a-leafs. My tire size is 255/70/16. Which is 30 tall and a radius of 15". My rims are 16X8 with a 4.03 backspacing. The question is how unstable will I be? My tires as of now stick out about 2" in front and 1" in the rear. Should I get a dual Dual Steering Stabilizer Kit? What color boots? Black blue yellow or red? What would a shop charge to put one on? $400-$600?

Since you have a blue light on top of your truck i'd get blue shock boots.
I just lifted my 97 ram 3 inches and it took about 6.5 hours. A lot of that time was finding tools and other stuff. I think i shop that knew what they were doing could do it in 4-5 hours. Maybe more, maybe less. Chances are that it will cost an arm and a leg to get a shop to install it. When we put mine on it wasnt hard, it just took time.
As far as your tires... I think they would be fine for now but you will want 33's down the road. You could always put the lift on yourself and with the money you would save you could buy some nice new tires

*Sigh* Why do you want this? Let's put this down in a more permanent way. Think about this for a second. You drive an eight year old truck. With what, under 50K on the clock? Your time will come for a transmission rebuild. Dodge is known for low resale value, and you throw a lift on it, your value goes down further.
So you have the cash now for a lift. I congratulate you on cash luck. (Graduation is great for that ) But, let's consider this, say you throw that lift on there. You start trashing ball joints, u joints, and trac bars... How are you going to pay for that? After hearing your Evap canister story, I know it's not the type of thing that you could fix by yourself. Also, does your cash flow allow for costly fixes? Here soon that tranny is going to go... People that DIY a rebuild, spend anywhere from 300-700. A cheap shop might be able to do a rebuild for $1,300... How are you going to pay for that???
Before everyone else calls in the lynch mob, let me say this: I have no problem with lifting a truck, as long as the owner has either the knowledge to repair things, or they have the money to have a shop do it.
Your 18, Keep that head down low, and focused on things that will get you further in life than a damned old truck.
Just my opinion, now, let the flames begin!
