Well I put 4 and change in. I was doing it at the fire house than we had a call so went on the call and for got how much I put in. Add a gt of the engine restore. So I noticed I had a leak. pulled the dip stick and was like holy CHIT! It at least 1qt over. I got a leak coming form the timing cover. So tomorrow I'm going to drain some of the oil out and try to tight up the bolt and hope that takes care of the leak. If not I need a new timing cover gasket. Or some gum. JP!

i always put 5 quarts in my engine as well, but its still a little over the max mark, nothing i'm too worried about but it's still more than it needs.

thats why its good to get oil from walmart, it comes in a 5 qt jug. i never understood why the parts stores have gallons instead of 5 qt jugs. most vehicles take 4.5-5 quarts, it just makes sense.

I use the big filter on both my 96 & 87. The 96 takes 5 1/2 and the 87 takes 6 1/2 quarts.
