Sounds good Zman. Have a great time, you deserve it after all this. But I'm a little puzzled. It's kinda weird that the doctors can't figure out what the heck that thing in your foot was. Are you sure you didn't stick a big meat ball inside your foot just to get sympathy from everybody?

Unfortunatley the Doctor just called, and they have found out that the tumor is cancerous. He says they want to try chemo, and there are some other options I will find out about on Thursday when I go down to Boston. But, the Doctor is recommending amputation. WTF, one last hurdle to cross and I would have been in the clear.

Amputation as in, they want to cut your foot off? I thought they determined that this wasn't cancerous? Jeez man, are you sure you aren't dealing with foot thieves?
I wish the best however it works out...

I have no cancer in the rest of my body per the tests taken a couple weeks ago. It took a while for them to figure out the tumor in my ankle.

I'm confused then. If you have no other cancer cells in your body, then why do they want to cut your foot off?

Hey, I just got the news that a donor was found on the east coast for my ankle replacement.

OK, just kidding. Trying to interject some dark humor into an ugly situation. Sorry to hear the news, Zman. Like Laramie said, why amputate if the cancer is not growing or spreading? Is there damage to the foot or are they trying to be on the ultra safe side? Seems extreme to me. I hope your insurance will allow you a 2nd opinion. Amputation is usually a last resort.

dam guys i guess i am not the only one on here that had my fair share of surgeries.
miami and zman i do know what you guys are going thru. my whole left leg is metal inside from countless wrecks, along with pinned elbows from missing a pool from 3 stories up, 2 shoulder seperations from rope swing accidents, and countless broken wrist (from motorcross) untill the doc decided to pin and screw them together also a small plate in the skull from a tree climbing accident. I am fine now and hope the both of you guys get well soon and back up on your feet. ZMAN i would go for the radiation, My father had cancer in his throat and did the kimo and radiation lost alot of weight and some of his teeth (from going thru his mouth) but now its been 3 yrs and hell even cance cant kill that old war horse JOKING he fine and living well.

Damn dude I am so sorry to hear that. All kidding aside that sucks a$$. I agree with Miami and I would suggest a second opinion even if you have to pay for it. To heck with the insurance, this is loosing your foot they are talking about. I have heard stories where they have cut off parts from people hoping to stem the cancer and it shows up again some place else years later. I don't trust everything those witch doctors say. I would agree with trying the chemo and radiation but DON'T give up on your foot dude. Once it's gone there is no turning back, and what if it's all for nothing? Then you will be really upset. Give everything some time to settle in and don't make rush decisions. The cancer isn't going to eat you up if you take a couple of weeks to think things through. I couldn't let a part of me go without one hell of a fight.
