check valves for wild vents
I'm new to this site, but not to Dodge trucks. I worked as a Dodge tech back in 00 to 04. Never really had to deal with the "wild vents" but just recently I've been very annoyed with mine. This thread (site) has great info! I've already tested both my CV's prior to reading this. Tomorrow I'm gunna check my PCV. I've also noticed a long delay in disengaging my 4X4. Seems to go into 4X4 quickly tho...
Oh....my rig is a 99 2500 5.9 4X4 with 221,000 on the clock.

does anyone know which direction the vacuum should flow in the lines at the t and on the side of the manifold and which direction should make them close? i replaced the one on the t and the one on the side of the manifold and i still have the wild vents. i have also looked at the wild vent fixes and none of them say which way the valves should go.
EDIT for future people with wacky vents, the part # for the check valves is 4549209

is this dealer only part?
Well, yeah, it is. The generic parts from the auto parts store will work, but you'll have to hillbilly engineer them into place. They're cheap enough at the dealership to make that hillbilly engineering a silly idea.
Ok I have looked and looked again, I have a cv right by the in take then a T (4x4,c.c,heater), the line that goes to the vents goes up over the tranny dipstick, then into another T one line goes to the top of the fire wall and on goes in by the ac line, so do I only have the one valve?
I fixed mine with a autozone universal CV, now to fix the noise I have coming from the middle of the dash. It happens when the brake is pressed at a stop light. The noise got lower when I put the CV valve in. so it must be a vacuum noise.
Any ideas ?

Well, I pulled the check valve off from the connection near the firewall....could blow both ways through it. Then I go and try and pull what I thought was a check valve from the elbow going into the intake and BREAK! The rubber hose gave way. Concequently, after it broke, I blew through the elbow and both ways it was very tough to blow through. So.....I went from having wild vents, to NO vents on a 95-degree day. lol
