unkown leak??
so i seem to have what looks like a differential fluid leak because the piece is connected to the front axle but idk for sure, has anyone had this before and know what it takes to fix it?
remove the 4 bolts and hope they don't break, or aren't already broke. a small puddle of diff fluid will run out. if the gasket is original its a funky, cork/metal thing. discard it.
inspect fork, collar, axle ends, etc.
clean both surfaces. use rtv for gasket. reinstall, making sure collar and fork line up.
torque bolts to whatever they are supposed to be which is not a whole lot, maybe 15 lbs or so.

It is also recommended that after you bolt the housing back on and before you put the vent hose back on, put a few squirts of rear end grease in it.

haynes says to take the indicator switch out (where the wire is plugged in) and squirt 5oz. of diff fluid in there after its bolted back on. i just reinstalled mine the other day, the indicator switch has a pretty low torque on it (maybe 10'lbs) so it's easy to take off.
