Default water/methane injection

ok with this other guy talking about a twin turbo setup, haha, i was thinking about any other type of major power adders out there. forced induction, nitrous, stroking, etc. then popped into my head methane injection. ive heard of people running this. its not very popular. thats for sure. i suppose the idea of running anything besides gas, especially water, into a gas engine kind of freaks people out. have any of you heard any yay or nay stories associated with it? i found this website for a universal kit that they offer. www.snowperformance.net check it out.

as far as my research has taken me water methanol is primarily used to cool forced induction air charges. almost like a chemical intercooler. i havent heard of anyone using it on non turbo or supercharged vehicles. it is interesting though. im just not sure its that beneficial.

and btw, its not methane, its methanol. its close to the same stuff top dragsters use for fuel, nitro methanol

I'll get blown over here, and 94 RT, they both are running similar setups.
If tuned correctly, they can help a little bit.

yeah. the funny part is the same stuff they use for boost juice, the water methanol mixture, thats actually the exact same thing as 35 below windshield washer fluid.

haha...you got to be freakin kiddin me!! wow. i guess that would make sense, even though i dont know the specifics. but funny. i was told by a guy a while back, that had a friend that claimed 28 mpg on a 98 ford 1/2 ton that was totally stock besides the injection kit. its enough for me to question it.

Actually, Luke, in some cases, some people will use pure water. Considering that water consists of one hydrogen, and 2oxygens, if it's fogged just right, you can get a boost out of it.

Thank you for the invite Laramie. With water injection cooling there are two main types of alcohol used. Denatured alcohol (Ethanol) and Methanol. Personally I have found for a combination of cooling and adding power a mixture of denatured alcohol, Meth and distilled water are the way to go. I have created an excel spreadsheet with my calcuators on it. If you would like, I can email it to you and you can input your engine data and find the best flow rate.

Here is the thread on my system.

yeah. its supposed to do great things for your gas mileage. and add big hp numbers. the only catch is that ive never seen it used on a non forced induction motor. even on the snow performance website i didnt see a kit that wasnt a boost cooler. i guess if you could figure a way to make it work youd be the man. but it would be difficult. diesel guys swear by them, but theyre turbo engines. adding fuel to a naturally aspirated motor is touchy. forced induction motors can control how much air is pumped in, but NA motors can only suck so much.
