Yes, I know the answer... the dealer must drain the oil and then put a special liguid glass in the engine, run it at 2k RPM for ten minutes then shut down the vehicle. If the engine cranks, then the dealer must repeat the process. Once the engine is disabled, the dealer can make $50 on the sale of the vehile to a junk yard/parts salvager. The salvager can strip everything they can for parts except the engine (that was disabled with the liguid glass). That is the deal.

that damn vid SUCKED ***** i would for no amount every do that to my truck. they can give me the 4500.00 in cash and still wouldn't give up my truck. Yes i would like to get a new 09 power wagon but i am keeping my 95 its payed for and dont owe me a dime. even if i got a new truck. this so called cash for clunkers is blind siding the stupid ones that wont be able to afford a new car and what happens to the new car when they cant pay for after they lost there jobs REPODED now they will think maybe i should have kept my payed for clunker.

I thought about doing this to my S-10 and maybe trading it in for a Ranger (The only compact left), but the only thing is that the 2.2 doesnt qualify!!! I hate the damn motor in my S-10! Its slow, leaks oil like a tanker, and only gets around 22 MPG. That said, insurance paid it off a couple of weeks ago, so I cant complain much.

I'm seriously thinking about ditching my 01 for a 09 as the gov website stated I'd get the full $4500 for a 2 MPG bump and a 5.7 hemi to boot. That damn lifetime powertrain warranty Dodge has sounds good too.
I don't know if I can bring myself to do that to my truck though. That's like putting down a perfectly good dog b/c you don't want him anymore.
Tough decision...

From what I heard, the clunker program is not much of an option anyhows, unless they "vote" in a few more odd billion $$ or so.
