Default truck dies and trans problem

Ok i have a new problem that just started yesterday. The trans is not wanting to shift unless I back off the gas and the engine has a miss. When I come to a stop if I let off the gas the truck dies.

I'm thinking the truck having a miss and dieing is causing the trans problem, what you think?

Could this be a vacuum leak causing all this? If i buy a vacuum gauge/meter to check it where would i hook it up and how much vacuum should it have?

Its a 98 ram 2500 with a 360 in it.

Thanks for any and all help.

Is the check engine light on? If not, do you see it when you turn the key on? Just making sure the bulb works.

the check engine light works but it's not when the truck is running. I even check for codes but nothing came up.

Then I would first try removing the TB and the sensors attached to it and clean it. Also clean the IAC which is the sensor on the rear of TB, just spray it off and let it dry then reinstall to TB. And get a Haynes manual if you don't have one and test the TPS. Also pull the plugs and see what they look like.

Almost forgot, while the TB is off, look down into the intake with a small round mirror and flashlite , and see if you have any oil pooling inside.

Okay yesterday I pulled the IAC off and cleaned it, I also pulled the TPS off and drilled a small hole and sprayed inside of it. The truck does not die anymore but it runs rough and has a very slow take off, gets worse when the truck warms up. Also have to give it full throttle to go anywhere.

How do i test the TPS? I have a multi meter.

The manual will tell you how. You should unscrew the o2 sensor (the one in front of the cat) and see how it runs.

Ok tested the TPS just now. I have 6.11v on the 5v output and .90v on the signal wire.

could my TPS be bad or is that normal?

OK, I'm doing this once for you! LOL Get a manual. I hope you can read it, open it with windows or something if you can't.

Thanks for posting the pictures and sorry for being a pain in your a$$.

From what that says i need to replace the TPS at full throttle it reads 3.38v and should be 3.5 to 4.5
