Default Question About A Tune Up

I'm getting ready to tune up my Ram's angine this weekend. I am going to change the oil on Friday night, since it's due this weekend anyway, and then do the rest on Saturday morning. I'm also doing plugs, wires, dist. cap, rotor, and pcv valve. Should the engine be cold or warm when I do this? Should I let it sit over night and just start in the morning, or start it up and let it run for a few minutes before I start? Any help would be appreciated!

do it all cold. although the oil is cool and thicker, its all drained down into the pan, and its not hot when handling it. as far as tune up - also cold. its very unpleasant trying to work on a hot motor.

When doing the tune up: cold.
Oil change: Warm, not hot. Run your engine at idle for 5-10 minutes to get it warm.

Thanks guys. I was mostly referring to the plugs and all, not so much the oil. I've done many oil changes on mine and my friends' cars, but this is the first time I will attempt a tune up. Thank you for the help, much appreciated!

I haven't picked out the parts I want to use, I'm just going to do a search and find out what people have had good luck with. I don't have a lift, and I have looked, and the distributer is really way back there. I'm definitly taking the air cleaner box off, are there any other little tricks for getting the wires, cap, and rotor out?

Champion plugs are what is recommended. For a good set of wires you can get MSD Street Fire 8mm plug wires for $40 @ AutoZone. For a cap and rotor get a Brass NAPA cap and rotor. Getting the cap and rotor off with the air cleaner is the only way to do it.
