u joint problems
ok the situation, i have a 98 ram with stock driveshafts( for now)
i jst had a dana 60 put in front and rear. found out real fast that the u joints are differant,,, now how would you guys fix this problem.
i have to do it in the rear. so i am assuming i hve to do it for the front also being that i am putting the 60 up front too.... right?

Some models have ujoints with 2 different size caps, you may be able to match something up at an auto parts store. Or just find a drive shaft shop, which is what I would do, and I'd have them balanced also.
Are the shafts even the correct length? If so, you should be able to find a conversion u-joint like zman stated. But, if the shafts are not the same length just go to a driveshaft shop and have them cut them down and also change the ears to the proper size for the axle.

i'm with olyelr, driveshaft shop.
ok so if i just take my driveshft to the shop. cause i am pretty sure i have to extend.... but if i just bring them the stock drive shaft, they will be able to make the right one. or will i have to bring in a like 2500 or 3500 drivershaft aswell and they can just change it...
they should have the yokes for the drive shaft itself (for a 2500) on hand but you might want to shop around for the slip yoke that is connected to the driveshaft through the u joint. the shop would probably charge you a lot more for the yoke that slides into the transfer case than you could find on your own on an aftermarket web site.
you also need to make sure that the yoke that goes into the trasfer case is the same for the 2500s and the 1500s. i believe the 2500s have the 241hd transfer case and i don't know if the splines/diameter of the slip yoke are the same on the 231d transfer case.

well i think what i may do because i am in iraq... have my dad go to a junk yard... get a 2500 set of drive shafts... see if the splines for the slip joint is the same. if it is. awesome. if not, the drive shaft shop can take the 2500 end off the "new" (junkyard) shaft. and my drive shaft. and extend and remake the new shaft to fit the right way.. if that makes sence... it does in my head...

Yeah, makes sense, but I would contact the drive shaft shop and ask for a price with parts (with the 2500 shafts) and without the parts (having them supply the parts) and go from there. It might be cheaper to just let them deal with supplying the parts as apposed to the headache of getting your own parts and buying them too.
