HAHAHA Dude, your first house! Hold on to your wallet! You are soon going to find out that a house is the biggest money pit you can ever have. Don't get me wrong, I have a house and it's a hell of a lot better than an apartment or condo, but boy howdy the honey do jobs just never seem to end. I've been in my current house 8 years, and it's been 8 years of constant upgrades. I had another house before this one for 13 years, but I put less money and effort into that one. I have learned that you have to squirrel a little money away for your vehicles or you will never have any for them.

What's a good headlight unit replacement? Mine are all yellowed and scrubbing them with rubbing compound didn't help.
They currently have Sylvania SilverStars in them (from the previous owner) but you can't even tell because of the lenses.
I eventually want some off-roading lights or something of the type to mount on my brush guard, but I need to get my headlights working bright first.
Personally, I think a clean pair of stockers looks better than any of the "cheapo upgrades" out there. You can get a set of them (both left and right) from LMC for around $200.00 plus shipping, or you can go to Oreily's and order in both housings for about $170.00 Be careful though, if you don't tell them that you want both the headlight and the running lights, they will just quote you the headlight.

I too am running the Silver stars, but they were not my number one choice. I think I paid like $35.00 for both bulbs. I was in a pinch. Never had both elements blow out at the same time. I can't complain though, When I pulled the bulbs out, they were still the factory bulb! At nine years old. Personally, I was shocked.

I like my SilverStars. They are 2 years old but prolly should be replaced. When the SilverStars go I am going to get some Sport headlights, do the headlight relay harness upgrade, and possibly go for some Philips bulbs. I remember that when I put my SilverStars in the original bulb had a date code of September 1998 (Truck was built in November 1998). Acually the date was the same as my dads birthday, Sept. 22! BTW my original light bulbs were Sylvanias, and still lit up the road pretty good for 8 years and 150,000 miles.

I keep saying that I am going to the Sport lights because I have heard from some people that the Sport light is way better than the SLT headlight. I am probably going to ask some Sport owners before I go (HEY MIAMI!!!), but I like the look of the Sport lamp better than any other aftermarket light out there. Here are some. A pair for $187 @ 1A Auto:

i just read over that thread and i was mistaken about color temp. i remember reading a while back that 4000k was the whitest brightest light you could get but it is actually white with a yellow tint and 6000k is the whitest brightest.

I took some pics of my HID setup, have a look. They are 4300K (OEM Style color temperature). However, I also change the headlight assembly to dual bulbs (like the sport) but the low beams are projectors:

Park lamps, halo effect around low beam projector lens

Low beam HID's, 4300K 35 Watts

Low beam HID's, beam pattern. There is a sharp cutoff with the projector lens

high beams and fogs

Hey, how do those projector assemblies get adjusted? When I bought my rig the oem headlight assemblies both had broken adjustment screws. They break (apparently) pretty easy right at the bracket with the clip where the ball goes. Sooo..I got a pair from someone who had upgraded off of craigslist and replaced them. Happy as a clam.

I hit a deer a few days ago and the darn headlights broke in exactly the same way, and the deer never hit the lights. It seems like just a sharp jar will do it.

I'm now looking for a replacement assembly that doesn't use the OEM adjustment setup. It's difficult to tell from some of the ebay pics, but it looks like these aftermarket halo-type assemblies don't have the same kind of adjusters.

Thanks

Yeah but it's nice because the houses often go up in value where the trucks usually drop in value very quickly. So that's the plus to owning your own house.

I thought I made the mistake in getting 8000k H.I.D.s but wow was I wrong I just installed the fog kit too and wow I can see everything, its perfect not to annoying blue but enough to look good and still have a decent amount of visible light.
