Holy Crap tires have gotten expensive!!!
One thing I really like about them is the fact that the nubs are spaced far enough apart that they don't grab rocks and chuck them.
Since they are a 10Ply, I feel fairly confident in saying that these are going to wear like iron. I have seen the same set of tires on another ram, and the owner swears that he sees about 80K out of each set. (This was his third set of them)
One of my Cooper Discoverer ST tires took a crap recently so I stopped in the place where I bought the set back in 2003 and they want nearly twice the price for them! I was quoted $991 for 4 265/75/R16s. I was hoping to move up to the 285s but now I'm not so sure. I also shopped around a little and found the Toyos more expensive and Firestones on sale for about $800 but were a boring tire.
Here's my question(s):
Where are you guys getting your tires these days? Online?
If so, how do you get them installed?
What brands are you running?
Would you recommend 285s?
I have yet to find a tire that I like as much as the Cooper ST but if you know of something comparable, I'd like to know. There are some websites selling the 285 ST for $154 each, which is a steal, but I don't know how I would get them installed.

). but i am going to be gettin my tires, if not from my cusin, from performanceplustire.com they have some good deals. Remington mud brutes are like $144 a peice on there.
If your truck has 3.55's, I would stay with the 265/75/16. I went from 245/75/16 to 285/75/16, and before I got the 4.56 gears put in, the truck was very sluggish with the 285's. My sig pic has the 285/75/16 tires on the stock chrome wheels like you wanted a pic of.
^^^^ What does the 255 70R16 tire look like compared to the 265/75 or the 285/75?
Everyone: thanks for the advice. I was worried I would have to chunk down tons of money just for tires but I'm going to look for and order online, then take them to a shop to install.
I would like a fairly aggressive looking tire like the ST but if you know of another 'hybrid' tire I should consider let me know.

Bob, thanks for the pic. Doesn't look that much different than my 265s. I'm not worried about running a bigger tire. My truck can't get out of its way with worn down 265s so going bigger doesn't bother me. The only thing that will ever make my truck fast is to put a CTD in it.
You may want to check Craigslist. My truck had perfectly good 245's on it when I bought it, but I really didn't like the look of them. I got mine, almost brand new, for $400, mounted and balanced, from a guy who was putting a lift and big tires on his truck, that he had just bought.

i got quoted $1100 for some bf goodwrench all-terrains
I paid just under $500 for my 265/75/R16 GoodYear Wrangler TDs. But they are a ****ty tire. DO NOT BUY THEM! I am going to get 285/70/R17 Toyo Open Countys next. May try the General Grabber A/T2 tires on my S-10.
